You can use it for free without having to register, via a smartphone or computer browser.

Aggregating information from social media and government agencies on a map

This map uses AI to analyze and categorize public posts on platforms such as X and Instagram, and displays information on damage—such as liquefaction, flooding, and fires—along with location data on the map.

In addition to information from social media, you can also check the epicenter location, magnitude, maximum seismic intensity, evacuation centers in Kumamoto Prefecture, and heat index figures released by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The main information and features are as follows.

  • Epicenter location, magnitude, and maximum seismic intensity as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency
  • Evacuation shelters currently open, as announced by Kumamoto City and the various municipalities within Kumamoto Prefecture
  • 3,028 Designated Emergency Evacuation Sites and Designated Evacuation Centers in Kumamoto Prefecture
  • Observation sites where the "Heat Index" published by the Ministry of the Environment reached the "Caution" level or higher
  • Reports of damage—such as liquefaction, flooding, and fires—posted on social media
  • Headlines, publication names, publication dates and times, and links to the original articles distributed by news organizations

It also supports filtering by municipality, information type, and keywords, as well as sorting by urgency and chronological order following a disaster.

Provided as data that can be used for disaster response

The data provided can be downloaded in CSV or GeoJSON format. Local governments, media organizations, and others can use this data to analyze damage conditions or create their own maps.

You can switch the background map between a light-colored map, a standard map, and pre-disaster aerial photographs, allowing you to view damage information overlaid on top of the terrain and building conditions.

Turning Scattered Damage Reports into a Clear Picture of the Situation

Immediately after a disaster, while a massive amount of information is disseminated by government agencies, media outlets, and social media, this information is scattered across various sources, making it difficult to grasp the situation in each specific area.

Solafune has quickly released the features currently available, leveraging the development work it has undertaken to date in satellite data analysis and the analysis of social media information during disasters. The company states that it will continue to improve these features and expand the information provided in response to the situation in the disaster-affected areas.

Important Notes for Use

This map contains publicly available information from social media and other sources; the accuracy or completeness of this information is not guaranteed.

When making decisions regarding evacuation or ensuring your safety, do not rely solely on the information provided on this map; be sure to follow the official information released by the Japan Meteorological Agency, Kumamoto Prefecture, and local governments.
