Logistics in times of disaster using a dedicated logistics drone (AirTruck)

summary

"Daily shopping for groceries and other necessities is difficult in a region with a declining birthrate, aging population, and depopulation."

In the logistics industry, there is a shortage of people to make deliveries."

We want to implement initiatives that leverage digital and technology in last-mile delivery."

The AirTruck, a specialized logistics drone jointly developed by ACSL and Aeronext, can solve these problems.

The "Air Truck" was used to deliver relief supplies and medical supplies to isolated villages in the aftermath of the earthquake through out-of-sight flights.

Technical Strengths

Center-of-gravity control technology by 4D GRAVITY®︎ enables stable flight while reducing luggage sway.

Aerodynamic optimization through aerodynamic simulation and wind tunnel testing to achieve high flight performance

Equipped with LTE communication, FPV camera, etc., enabling remote control of Level 3 (blind flight in unmanned area)

Aircraft with expanded performance from a payload of less than 3 kg to 5 kg compared to the conventional ACSL aircraft (ACSL-PF2), which is required for flight ACSL in the real world.

UX design that is easy for users to understand and handle, such as a method to easily load cargo from the top

Summary: Delivery of relief supplies and medicines to isolated villages in the aftermath of a disaster by sighted flight.
scale of implementation
Medical supplies were transported to Kugesu Elementary School in Wajima, which was isolated by a landslide.
By transporting supplies approximately 3 km one way, a task that would take half a day on foot can be completed in about one hour.

The time and burden were significantly reduced by using drones to replace the one-hour one-way walk by the Self-Defense Forces and disaster victims to deliver or pick up the goods.

How to use in peacetime

The "AirTruck" is a drone that is designed to be utilized in peacetime.

The purpose of this project is to solve the problem of labor shortage in the logistics industry and to take on the role of last mile delivery, especially in mountainous areas.

By utilizing "AirTruck" in normal times, logistics resilience can be improved in times of emergency.
