Contents
While conducting experiments, students will learn how microorganisms use their power to generate energy.
The attempts being made at PLANT-3 to extract methane gas from vegetable scraps and weeds that can be used for electricity or gas will also be introduced. You can also visit the methane fermentation system "Eco-Standalone" in the garage!

Background of Implementation
RIVANES Corporation, Focus Systems Corporation, and Environmental Microbiology Laboratory, Inc. have launched the RUMEN Project (RUMEN: Resilient system Under disaster by green Methane ENergy) to develop a small-scale methane fermentation system with disaster response capabilities.
This project aims at social implementation of a resource-recycling power generation system, centered on the "Eco Standalone," a stand-alone small methane fermentation system proposed by the Research Institute for Microbiology of the Environment, in order to realize an energy supply that can promptly supply gas and electricity in times of disaster and be close to the hearts of the people.

Currently, with the cooperation of PLANT Corporation, we have installed the first demonstration unit we developed at the PLANT-3 Kawakita store and are conducting a demonstration test of methane fermentation using vegetable scraps discarded from the grocery store to produce city gas and electricity.
Through the implementation of this experimental class, we aim to widely publicize our efforts to the local community in the vicinity of the PLANT-3 Kawakita store, so that they will be effectively utilized in the event of an emergency.

[LIBERNESS INC.
Since our founding in 2002, we have been developing "delivery experiment classes" to bring the fun and fascination of science and technology to elementary, junior high, and high school students under the concept of "turning familiar mysteries into interest," and have created such opportunities for more than 200,000 children to date. Here, we aim to create a cycle of knowledge and nurture the next generation of researchers by bridging junior high school students, who are the next generation, with researchers who have launched ventures to solve social issues on a global scale while making full use of cutting-edge science and technology. Environmental Microbiology Laboratories, Inc.
Yasunori Baba, a lecturer at the Institute of Bioresource Engineering, Ishikawa Prefectural University, lived through the Great East Japan Earthquake during his time at Tohoku University. He realized that weeds were available even under the disaster conditions without gas or electricity, and started research on generating gas and electricity from weeds. After being assigned to Ishikawa Prefectural University, he successfully conducted a demonstration test on campus, and in August 2022, he established Environmental Microbiology Research Institute, Inc.https://ybaba1.wixsite.com/rumen115
